David is the owner and head cycling coach of CIS Training Systems in New York City, a martial arts master, a health & fitness mentor and a family man. Fitness has always played an important role in David’s life, helping him accomplish and overcome many things both personally and professionally.

At a young age, David began practicing martial arts and developed a passion for the art.  Now with 25+ years of experience, he is a certified expert in combat practice and has earned 1 Black Belt and 2 Brown Belts. Unlike his love for martial arts, David’s passion for cycling ignited later in life, however, his dedication and devotion to the sport is just as strong, if not amassed. In 1993 David began training and racing. His hard work and commitment to cycling led him to become a successful category 2 cyclist.

After many years of competitive racing on the weekends while working as a leadership and professional development consultant during the week, David decided to open CIS Training Systems in 2006 so he could turn his passions for cycling, mentoring and coaching into a full-time career.  CIS Training Systems, a global brand, is New York City’s Premier Cycling Program with a primary focus to create effective cycling, training, development and coaching in all forms at both the individual and group level. David not only trains CIS members on how to cycle, train and race their bikes with purpose, but he also works on breaking down individual barriers that impede performance, just like an HR professional would do.

David’s background in martial arts, as well as well his body’s outstanding physical shape from cycling, played a vital role in surviving a severe stroke following a training accident in 2012. The stroke caused a blood clot to travel from his left leg through his heart and eventually to his brain, leaving him hospitalized. In order to get through the ordeal, David dug deep into everything he had learned from his years of martial arts training and applied it directly to his situation; he was determined not to allow the stroke to defeat him and to do whatever it took to get back onto his bike. Through hard work and determination, David was back at CIS and fully functional within one week.

David is truly an inspirational athlete, coach, business owner and person. When he is not coaching or training CIS members globally or cycling around NYC., he enjoys spending time with his family; he is a father of 2 and grandfather to 2. On occasion, he also enjoys a good game of table tennis or pool. Follow CIS Training Systems on Instagram and Facebook to learn more about David.
