Jonathan Hathaway, 40, is a health and fitness enthusiast who is constantly pushing his limits while tackling the responsibilities of life with a full-time job and family. As a full-time insurance agent, President of the Board of Directors for Xcel Strategies, a mentoring network for young men, husband to his loving wife Naomi and father to their three wonderful children: Jasmine, Jaden and Jack, Jonathan is a busy man. Despite having an extremely busy schedule, Jonathan not only makes exercising a priority in his life, but also helps others work on their physical fitness.

Growing up Jonathan was very active. In high-school he was your typical “two sport athlete” and like most active young adults did not have to worry about his health or weight. However, as he got older and his activity level dropped, he noticed the physical changes that come with decreased activity and no change in nutritional habits. Jonathan eventually felt like his weight had become an issue that would prevent him from enjoying his future. Gradually he began building better habits and reached his desired healthy weight.

This positive life change is what inspired Jonathan to pursue a second career in health and fitness. He has since obtained both his personal training and group fitness instruction certifications through the NCCPT. Jonathan is an active P90X Certified Instructor and teaches class two evenings a week at his local YMCA. He has also developed a Health and Fitness curriculum which he teaches to the young men affiliated with Xcel Strategies. Jonathan is passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of others by encouraging and motivating them to be their best no matter what their current fitness level is.

Jonathan wants to be an example of consistency and to show those how being committed to healthier living positively impacts every area of life. He is constantly challenging himself to be better. In more recent years Jonathan has challenged himself to do something he never thought he would do: run. Running has never come naturally to Jonathan and he never really enjoyed doing it. In 2011 he decided he was going to start running to continue to show his commitment to healthy living.  Over the next few years Jonathan completed a handful of races. However, it wasn’t until 2016 when Jonathan decided he was going to complete his, “Year of 40”, that running became one of his true passions. In honor of his birthday that year, Jonathan wanted to celebrate turning 40 years’ young by completing 40 races in a calendar year. Jonathan aimed to run everything from 5k’s to half marathons and obstacle course challenges. He trained less than an hour a day and ran less than 20 miles per week, but completed two half marathons in 2016 in under 2 hours! Jonathan’s entire “Year of 40” race schedule can be found on his blog The Coach Jonathan. As a customer of GGCRC, Jonathan stopped by the event to support his local running store, unknowing that he was going to become the XOSKIN Ambassador for GGCRC in the Savannah area.  Since meeting Jonathan in early January, he has risen to the top of the XOSKIN Ambassador Program. Jonathan is truly an inspirational person and athlete.

“I love training in my XOSKIN gear because the fit is phenomenal and it has just the right amount of support while allowing for freedom of movement no matter what training challenge I’m tackling. My favorite feature is the temperature regulation that allows me to train in hot or cold without needing anything but my base layer gear.” – Jonathan
